Home Tire Care Tips
Just like the rest of your car, it’s important to take care of your tires. If you take care of your tires properly, they’ll take care of you. To increase the longevity of your tires there are some guidelines to follow. Although we love to see our customers often, we also love when a customer can care for their tires themselves
Every time you go to fill up on gas, check your tire pressure. Ensure that it’s at the optimal level, and if it isn’t, fill it up. Most gas stations have air compressors with tire pressure gauges. Driving with the correct pressure will ensure your tires last a long time and will prevent damage.
Ensure you’re inspecting your tires regularly. This means checking the tread depth and the side wall integrity. If you don’t feel comfortable giving your tires an inspection, come and see us!
Every once in a while it’s important to check your alignment. This can be slightly difficult to do without the help of a professional.
Every 6,000 miles or so your tires should be balanced. This ensures that they don’t wear down unevenly causing one tire to deteriorate faster than the others. This also makes for a smoother ride overall.
On the same note as tire balancing, ensuring your tires are rotated will increase the overall longevity and driveability of your tires.
Avoiding things like rough roads, potholes, high speeds, hard stops will increase the lifespan of your tires and will save you quite a bit of money over the life of your vehicle.
